Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, vocalist/percussionist Anders Colsefni, and bassist Paul Gray. Following several lineup changes, the group eventually established a nine-member formation:
