She first gained attention in 2012 by anonymously releasing a series of one-minute demos on YouTube titled Colorminutes. Her first 7" single, "Champagne," was released later that year through No Recordings. Her stage name was inspired by a tarot card reading: the first card pulled was The Empress, associated with fertility, strength, and creativity. Her debut album, Me (2015) .
