Blondie debuted as a retro-pop group, but their fortunes aligned with the disco movement with the worldwide hit “Heart of Glass” and further hits such as “Call Me,” “The Tide Is High," and “Rapture” that found the group exploring Eurodisco, reggae, and hip-hop, respectively. This ability to hear their music in various contexts and be open and free with its use by other producers and mixers turned them into more than just a pop group but artists with a deep reach into the dance club scenes throughout the world. This collection of remixes was released in the U.S. and the U.K. in 1995. Naturally, the remix process means the songs have been extended with beats emphasized and augmented. Deborah Harry’s vocals are often isolated and manipulated away from their original context and a variety of instrumental alterations provide surprises. Dance music fans and those looking to shake up a party with well-known songs reconstructed for dance floor purposes surely desire this look at Blondie, which, not surprisingly, isn't the only remix album available.
