The Motor City soul man entered an L.A. studio on June 14, 2012, to record career-spanning cuts, plus a few surprising cover tracks. The former DJ ignites this exclusive collection with “Love in Motion,” a soaring, funked-up rocker that hardcore fans will recognize from SebatiAn’s 2011 album, Total. Hawthorne’s selections spotlight his group’s rubber band-like energy—including love-themed tracks from his second full-length, How Do You Do, and the falsetto-brushed single that started it all, “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out.” Listeners are also treated to a tambourine-accented cover of Hall & Oates’ “You Make My Dreams” and a tenderhearted version of the Gershwin ballad “I’ve Got a Crush on You.”
